The building, whose origins appear to stem back to the turn of the 15th century, at least as far as the basic structure is concerned, was restored under the strict ordinance of the Fine Arts Commission and is preserved as a historic monument. The facade shows traces of graffiti representing the "Triumph of David”. A unique feature of the hotel is the complimentary lecture on the art and history of Florence presented on three evenings a week by a professor of the University of Florence.
